Permits - outside Western Australia

The Department of Indigenous Affairs does not issue permits for areas outside of Western Australia.

Below are links to other organisations who administer the lands adjoining WA reserves. (Information correct as of March 2003). Because these websites are not administered by DIA, DIA provides no guarantee as to their content or availability.

Northern Territory

Central Australia (Southern NT)

If travelling through the WA Central Reserves to or from the NT, permits are also required for sections of the NT travel. Information and application forms can be obtained from the Central Land Council website.(www.clc.org.au/permits/)

Northern NT

For northern NT, information and application forms can be obtained from the Northern Land Council website.(www.nlc.org.au/html/permits.html)

South Australia

The approved route of travel is via Kulgera, Victory Downs, Mulga Park and Curtin Springs, where no permit is required. Access to the Giles Mulga Park Road is not permitted. Further information can be obtained from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankuytjatjara Land Council website.(www.waru.org/resources/permits.php)

Queensland

Cape York Peninsula

Northern Territory

Gove, Northeast Arnhem Land

Information and application forms can be obtained from the Dhimurru Land Management Aboriginal Corporation website.(www.ealta.org)

South Australia

South-western South Australia

Permits are not required to travel through Yalata Aboriginal lands. However, if you intend to stay in the area, you will need a permit. Information and application forms can be obtained from the Yalata Indigenous Protected Area website.(www.yalata.org/permits.htm)
