DIA Region - Metro Wheatbelt

This Region includes Perth and the Wheatbelt. It ranges from Southern Cross in the east, Rottnest and Garden Islands in the west, to Jurien Bay in the north and Pinjarra and Mandurah to the south.
While the area represents the smallest of the DIA Regions, it has a wide administrative responsibility with over 50 local government areas.
The Metropolitan/Wheatbelt has the largest population of all the regions, with about 30,000 Aboriginal inhabitants. With the greatest Aboriginal population in Western Australia, the area continues to experience the greatest complexities accessing and receiving services.
Nyoongar cultural identification is strong within the entire community. Many cultural activities are held across the region, especially during NAIDOC Week in July of each year.
