ATSIC

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission, the peak national body for Indigenous representation and advocacy, was abolished in June 2005. The Western Australian Government, in collaboration with the Australian Government, is undertaking a consultation process with the Indigenous community to look at how best the Indigenous community in Western Australia can be represented in government decision making in a post-ATSIC environment.
