Work Experience

DIA offers work experience opportunities to secondary students (generally year 11 or 12) and tertiary level students (in particular to Indigenous students) for the purpose of assisting young people to:

  • Make decisions concerning their future
  • Experience a true work environment
  • Practice and develop vocational and life skills
  • Match their abilities and interests to vocational pathways, and
  • Incorporate subject-based learning to the work environment.

Work experience placements for secondary level students will generally be for a period of no more than two (2) weeks, or in the case of structured workplace learning programs no more than one (1) day per week for 10-15 weeks.

Work experience placements are made on a purely voluntary basis and no payment of salary or benefits will be made to a work experience student.
