Indigenous Youth Mobility Program (IYMP): The Federal Government has launched a new program to assist young Indigenous Western Australians to better prepare them for employment. The IYMP will support the development of local economic and employment opportunities for young people, aged between 16 and 24, living in regional and remote WA. Assistance will also be available to support students with their training and education in Perth, as well as helping them find employment in their home region. More.

Enrich your community: Enrich grants of up to $5000 are now available to Western Australian community groups for innovative reconciliation or Indigenous heritage and culture projects. Aplpications close on Friday, 25 August 2006. More.

Gnunkai Awards: Nominations close on 27 July 2006 for the Gnunkai Awards. These awards formally acknowledge exceptional commitment and contribution to Indigenous Tourism. More.

Western Desert Exhibition: The Western Desert Collection will be running until the end of July at the Special Exhibitions Gallery, Art Gallery of Western Australia. This exhibition will be the first comprehensive review of the State Art Collection’s holdings of Western Desert art, and an opportunity to showcase the jewels of the collection. It will include paintings, prints and objects from communities in Balgo Hills and Warburton, and from newer art centres operating in Irrunytju, Blackstone, Kiwirrkura and Parnngurr. Additional benefits include an audit of the collection, improved documentation and community network. More.

Exhibition of Nyoongar Art: Also running at the Art Gallery of Western Australia is an exhibition titled 'Identity and Change - Representation and the Nyoongar People'. This runs until the end of August.  Click here for more details on the exhibition.

ALRM Website back up: The Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement website is back up and running. The organisation offers 'Justice Without Prejudice' and the website reflects this philosophy. More.
