Reconciliation Action Plan Launch: Indigenous Affairs Minister Michelle Roberts will launch the State's commitment to Reconciliation as part of Reconciliation Week, 26 May to June 2, at an event at the Perth Concert Hall at 9am on Wednesday, 30 May. Minister Roberts will make the announcement to government, industry, the Indigenous community and non-government organisations. DIA Family History Research workshop: The Department of Indigenous Affairs is sponsoring a Family History Research workshop in Geraldton on Friday, 25 May 2007, during Reconciliation Week. The workshop will provide Indigenous people with an opportunity to find additional family information as well as assisting them to access other services and organisations that will enable them to find out more about their families and heritage. Bringing them Home...10 years on: The Aboriginal Legal Service of WA is holding a gathering in recognition of Sorry Day and the 10th anniversary of the 'Bringing them Home' report on Friday, 25 May 2007 from 10am to12noon. Guest speakers include Aboriginal Legal Service WA CEO Dennis Eggington, talking about the role of  ALSWA in the Bringing Them Home Inquiry; Lena McGrath is Telling her story; while  ALSWA Prisoner Support Officer Sam Dinah talks about Growing up at Roelands Mission.  Senior Lecturer in Law at UWA, Dr Tony Buti, will discuss "What has been achieved 10 years on? Remember Indigenous Service: To commemorate the service and sacrifice of Indigenous veterans, the Department of Veteran Affairs will work alongside ex-service and community organisations to hold ceremonies in each capital city, Townsville and Alice Springs. Aboriginal Community Forum: The Equal Opportunity Commission and WA Police Service will hold an Aboriginal Community Forum on racially offensive behaviour and new laws in Geraldton on Wednesday, 6 June. Speakers at the forum will include the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity, Yvonne Henderson and a police representative. Law Matters: Find out more abouth the law and legal issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in WA. Free Law Matters legal workshops are being held every Wednesday throughout May, June and July in Wilson from 10am until 1pm. All are welcome to attend any or all of this nine week workshop series. Windmill Baby: Yirra Yaakin Noongar Theatre proudly presents Windmill Baby, a multi-award winning play that has been critically acclaimed at art and culture festivals around the world. Windmill Baby will have performances in Perth from 29 June - 14 July at the Subiaco Arts Centre. Yirra Yaakin wants Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in WA to share in the success of this play. A special early bird rate of $23.00/ticket is being offered on tickets booked before 9 June. There is also a special early bird group rate for 10 or more people of $20.00/ticket if booked before 9 June. Tickets are available through BOCS on (08) 9484 1133. Indigenous Filmmakers workshop: ScreenWest, in partnership with Juluwarlu Aboriginal Corporation, will hold a three-day practical workshop for Indigenous Filmmakers on gathering and producing community stories. The workshop will be facilitated by Juluwarlu staff and Frank Rijavec in Roeburne in August 2007. The workshop is designed to equip participants with digital camera and sound recording technical skills and knowledge of how to capture community stories. Expressions of interest are invited from Western Australian based Indigenous filmmakers. Please send a CV and covering letter outlining why this workshop will be of benefit to you. Priority will be given to filmmakers who are already planning projects that include gathering community stories. There are a total of six place available for Western Australian residents; expressions of interest must be submitted no later than 5pm Monday, 22 June. imagineNATIVE Festival: 2007 imagineNATIVE festival is calling for submissions for features, shorts, documentaries, dramas, comedies and animation by international and Canadian Indigenous filmmakers and producers. All genres and lengths are welcome. Submission forms are available online at www.imaginenative.org. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 1 June. Shades of Black: South West Aboriginal Land & Sea Council present Reconciliation with Noongaroke and Dance at City Farm  in East Perth on Saturday, 26 May commencing at 7pm. For more information contact Jimbo on 0408 917 133. Entry is $5.
